Car Craft Summer Nationals 2013

I made it to the Car Craft Summer Nationals 2013.  If you have never been there, it is something that needs to be seen to be fully appreciated. Unfortunately, I was up until 3 the night (morning?) before working on a server that was having problems for work, so I was rather tired.  My wife came with me, and since we only had so much time that we could leave the kids with the baby sitter, we didn’t get to see it all.  But it was still a lot of fun.

In the parking lot, we saw a Road Runner that had smoke coming from under the hood.  We helped put out the fire with some water we had in the van.  Glad to be able to help, but someone was going to have a bad day when they came out.

It was hard to get all the pictures I wanted, since there were so many people there, but I did get some good ones, and had a good time.

I got to confirm with myself that if I ever win the lottery, I will buy a 1969 Dodge Charger, although I would settle for  a 1968.  I also realized that a Duster (or Demon or Dart sport) would be a car I would have as second place.  I like them also, it may have helped that my parents had one when I was a kid.  Plus they are less expensive than any of the B body Mopars.

I also had fun watching the autocross.  Too bad I don’t have a vehicle to run in autocross, it looks like a lot of fun.  When we finish the wife’s Impala and I get a project car, it will be set up to be able to run autocross.

All in all, it was a great day, and even better that I got to spend it with my wife.  Next year, we may be brave and try to bring the kids with…
