I don’t know about you, but I like watching the TV show Top Gear. At least the UK version. I have not watched the US version yet.
I don’t watch it for automotive news, or in depth information on new cars. First off, most the cars they show, are either not available in America, or worth more than my house.
The reason I watch it, it is fun. I enjoy seeing the goofy things they do, and the fact that they have fun driving the cars. Sure, even though they are self proclaimed petrol heads, their understanding of how a car works, at least Jeremy Clarkson, seems to be limited. Or he could just be playing a character.
Sure, they are biased against American cars, but it is so obvious and over done, that is it kind of comical.
Plus the star in a reasonably priced car is fun. I would like to be able to see how fast I could drive their car around the track. That and the many variations of the Stig they come up with.
It isn’t serious journalism, but I don’t think that is the point. It is just fun entertainment. And I think that is the point. Thanks to Netflix, I can watch it when I want.
